Walmart marks the 20th anniversary of its generic prescription program, which has saved U.S. customers billions of dollars. The retailer currently operates nearly 4,600 pharmacies nationwide, offering prescription dispensing, testing, and treatment services where authorized.
The company provides same-day pharmacy delivery across 49 states. Its Better Care Services platform, launched in January, connects customers with third-party virtual providers for urgent and behavioral care. The platform also integrates with Eli Lilly’s LillyDirect service.
In April, Walmart expanded Better Care Services to assist customers using GLP-1 medications. The ecosystem includes the AI-powered Nutrition Hub, which delivers personalized dietary recommendations, and offers delivery options as fast as one hour in select markets.
Kevin Host, senior vice president of Pharmacy at Walmart U.S., stated that the company aims to simplify the health journey for its customers. Ralph Clare, executive vice president of Health and Wellness, emphasized the focus on convenience and affordability.
