JPMorgan Chase and Goldman Sachs have formed specialized teams to finance European data center projects. The banks aim to address a significant gap in AI infrastructure funding by connecting operators with institutional investors.

Goldman Sachs projects that the European AI-related bond market could reach between $5 billion and $10 billion by the end of 2026, with further growth anticipated in 2027. Currently, such debt accounts for only 5% of high-yield issuance in Europe, compared to 19% in the United States.

Individual data center projects ranging from 100 to 200 megawatts can support debt packages between $1 billion and $2 billion. Bloomberg Intelligence estimates that Europe requires approximately $3 trillion in infrastructure investment through 2035.

The involvement of these major banks provides European operators with access to global fixed-income capital markets. This shift allows companies to move beyond traditional bank loans and private credit toward public bond markets, which offer larger deal sizes and longer maturities.
