Volkswagen has unveiled the Mission Efficiency, a 2+2 coupe concept built on the MEB+ platform. The vehicle features a carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic body and an aerodynamic design with a drag coefficient of 0.158 Cd. It utilizes 155-section tires and replaces traditional hydraulic rear brakes with an electro-mechanical system to reduce weight.

The concept is powered by a 133 hp electric motor and a 54.9 kWh battery. During a test drive from Wolfsburg to Vienna, the car achieved a range of 412 miles on a single charge. The vehicle also incorporates a 370 W photovoltaic panel on the glass, which can potentially add 18.6 miles of range per day under favorable weather conditions.

To maximize efficiency, the interior lacks an infotainment screen and speakers, relying on the user's smartphone and portable audio devices. While Volkswagen does not plan to mass-produce the Mission Efficiency, the company suggests that certain technologies, such as the fluid-free braking system, may be integrated into future production electric vehicles.
