Volkswagen Group is currently evaluating the future of the Seat brand, with a potential phase-out being one of several options under consideration. CEO Markus Haupt confirmed that the company continues to invest in Seat, with plans to introduce new mild-hybrid models for the Ibiza and Arona in 2027.

The decision regarding the brand's future depends on upcoming regulatory changes and consumer demand. Stricter CO2 regulations expected in 2030 are a key factor in the group's strategic planning as it navigates global industry shifts, increased competition from China, and US tariffs.

Combined sales for Seat and Cupra in the third quarter of 2026 reached 133 700 vehicles, a 2.3 percent decline compared to the 136 900 units sold in the same period of 2025. For the first nine months of 2026, the brands recorded 433 499 total sales, down 1.4 percent from 439 500 in the previous year.

Cupra has been gaining momentum, outselling Seat in 2025 with 328 800 units compared to 257 400. While Cupra sales grew by 32.5 percent, Seat sales experienced a 17.0 percent decline. Despite this, the Ibiza remains the best-selling model for Seat in the Spanish market.
