VK Video has updated its recommendation system using Discovery technology to boost content from smaller creators. According to the company, these algorithmic improvements led to a 20% increase in video views for smaller channels.
In addition to higher view counts, the platform reported a 30% growth in new subscribers for these creators. The Discovery system identifies potential audiences for videos even when a creator has a limited history of engagement or a small follower base.
Dmitry Shishov, head of recommendations at VK Video, stated that the technology analyzes video content and user behavior across various VK products. By using a neural profile to aggregate user signals, the system can accurately predict viewer interests despite a lack of extensive historical data.
