Vivo plans to launch the X500 Ultra smartphone in March or April 2027. This timeline was announced by Vivo Vice President and product lead Huang Tao following the X500 series presentation in China. The company has not yet disclosed release dates for the potential X500e and X500 FE models.

The X500 Ultra is positioned as the flagship camera-focused device in the series, designed for both photography and video production. According to reports from Digital Chat Station, Vivo is currently testing three different 200-megapixel periscope sensors for the device, with sizes ranging from 1/1.12 to 1/1.4 inches.

The company is also testing two configurations for the 35mm main camera. The first option features a 50-megapixel 1/1.28-inch LOFIC sensor with optical image stabilization and a micro-gimbal mechanism. The second option utilizes a 200-megapixel 1/1.12-inch LOFIC sensor. The final hardware selection remains unconfirmed.

Separately, the global versions of the Vivo X500 Pro and X500 Pro Max are scheduled for release in Europe at the end of October. These devices will ship with the OriginOS 7 operating system. Previous models in the series have shown varying performance results, with the X300 Ultra ranking behind the X300 Pro in DxOMark tests.
