Visa is integrating its VisaNet settlement data with blockchain-based lending infrastructure. This initiative allows lenders to utilize Visa settlement records alongside onchain transaction data to evaluate borrowers and finance their payment obligations.
The company highlighted the blockchain protocol Credit Coop as an early adopter of this model. Since 2023, Credit Coop has financed over $2.5 billion in cumulative settlement volume, processing more than 3,000 borrowing events and 9,000 repayments.
The expansion follows significant growth in Visa's stablecoin-related business. Currently, more than 160 stablecoin-linked card programs operate on the network, with payment volume increasing by nearly 200% year over year.
Visa reported that its stablecoin settlement volume has exceeded an annualized run rate of $20 billion, representing a 15-fold increase compared to the previous year. The company is also a member of the OpenStandard consortium.
