Vast is launching a dedicated Lunar Programs division to support NASA’s Moon Base initiative. The company plans to leverage its existing expertise in commercial space station and satellite development to create lunar infrastructure.

The strategy involves a phased deployment of lunar architecture, utilizing technologies originally designed for the Haven space station. Vast intends to scale these processes to ensure consistent upgrades for its lunar habitats.

The company’s lunar roadmap includes developing a communications and positioning constellation to provide continuous coverage of the lunar south pole. Additionally, Vast aims to improve space situational awareness for both surface and orbital operations.

Separately, Astrolab and Interstellar Mapping have formed a partnership to search for water on the Moon. Interstellar Mapping will analyze the lunar subsurface for hydrogen-bearing volatiles to support future deep space missions.
