Vanguard currently holds 1.99 million shares of Strive, a company focused on Bitcoin treasury management. This investment, valued at $51.5 million, is held within the Vanguard Total Stock Market Index Fund, known as VTSAX.
The position is a result of passive index fund mechanics rather than an active strategy. As Strive is listed on the Nasdaq under the ticker ASST, it is automatically included in the index fund, which mirrors the US equity market.
The value of Vanguard's stake has more than doubled from $23.7 million to $51.5 million. This growth is attributed to both the acquisition of 269,200 additional shares during rebalancing and the appreciation of the stock price.
Strive, founded by Vivek Ramaswamy in 2022, pivoted to a Bitcoin-focused strategy following its acquisition of Semler Scientific in January 2026. The firm currently holds approximately 43,000 BTC.
In late October 2026, Strive purchased 6,182 BTC for $511 million, funded through equity and preferred-stock offerings. The company is led by CEO Matt Cole and backed by investors including Peter Thiel and Bill Ackman.
