Matthew Sigel, head of digital assets research at VanEck, predicts Bitcoin will reach $100,000 by 2027. He attributes this potential growth to unsustainable government debt levels and expectations of easing liquidity, which he believes will act as a catalyst for the asset.

The forecast comes as Bitcoin traded near $77,403 on Friday, marking a 20% increase over the past month. Despite this growth, the current price remains approximately 39% below the record high of over $126,000, which was established on October 6, 2025.

Market conditions have been influenced by recent central bank decisions. The Federal Reserve raised its benchmark rate by 25 basis points to a range of 3.75% to 4%, while the Bank of Japan increased its policy rate to 1.25%, the highest level since 1995.

Legislative developments also impacted the sector, as the Senate rejected the Clarity Act with a 49-50 vote. Despite these events, Sigel noted that institutional clients, including sovereign wealth funds and advisors, continue to purchase the asset.

Sigel highlighted that Bitcoin volatility has decreased by half compared to four years ago. He maintains long-term targets for the cryptocurrency, including $500,000 by 2029 and a potential valuation of $1 million within the next several years.
