Valve is currently developing a new head strap for the Steam Frame VR headset, as confirmed to PCGamer. The upcoming accessory aims to address existing limitations by introducing a hot-swappable battery system, allowing users to extend playtime without waiting for a full recharge.
The new design will also feature Balanced Mode Radiator (BMR) drivers. This upgrade is intended to improve audio quality, specifically targeting better low-frequency performance to match the experience provided by the off-ear speakers found on the Valve Index headset.
Despite these development efforts, Valve has not yet disclosed pricing, release dates, or technical specifications for the new hardware. The company is currently managing a significant backlog, with delivery times for existing Steam Frame pre-orders reportedly extending into 2027.
