Suniva secured $835 million to expand its US manufacturing operations. The funding, involving partners like Lion Point Capital and Goldman Sachs Alternatives, will support a new 4.5 GW monocrystalline silicon solar cell facility in South Carolina. The project aims to reach a total capacity of 5.5 GW by 2028 and create nearly 600 jobs.
ES Foundry, which operates a 2 GW solar cell factory in South Carolina, signed a three-year, $1.5 million agreement with an MIT program on September 21. The partnership focuses on integrating AI, automation, and cybersecurity into its manufacturing processes to enhance long-term competitiveness.
ARRAY Technologies opened a new $50 million solar tracking facility in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on September 9. The LEED-certified plant triples the company's previous capacity at the site and supports 300 jobs. The project received $2.5 million in state economic development funding.
The new ARRAY facility produces components that qualify for the Section 45X Advanced Manufacturing Production Tax Credit. This tax incentive helps domestically produced solar hardware remain cost-competitive against imports, despite broader federal policy challenges facing the clean energy sector.
