On September 29, US President Donald Trump and leaders from six major AI firms signed the White House Accord on Super Intelligence. The agreement establishes voluntary safety controls for advanced AI models, including internal testing, independent external audits, and board-level oversight.
The signatories include Sundar Pichai of Google, Dario Amodei of Anthropic, Mark Zuckerberg of Meta, Greg Brockman of OpenAI, Elon Musk of SpaceXAI, and Jensen Huang of Nvidia. Participants committed to implementing four levels of control during the training and deployment of AI models.
The document lacks legal enforcement mechanisms, specific requirements for auditors, or sanctions for non-compliance. Trump described the accord as a moral obligation, suggesting that companies can largely self-regulate. However, the agreement allows for a potential shift toward formal legislation in the future.
Trump also announced plans to form a committee of approximately 10 people to monitor the AI industry. Additionally, he signed an executive order requiring federal agencies to replace the terms Artificial Intelligence and AI with Super Intelligence and SI in official communications.
