Upwind Security Inc. has secured $300 million in a Series C funding round. The deal was led by existing investors Bessemer and TCV, with participation from Salesforce Ventures, Greylock, Craft Ventures, and other firms. Following this investment, the company is now valued at $3.8 billion, marking an increase of $2 billion since the beginning of the year.

The company provides a platform designed to automate cloud environment security. It maps assets and refreshes configuration data every 30 seconds. To collect telemetry from Linux kernels without modifying the operating system, Upwind utilizes the eBPF feature, which runs observability code within an isolated sandbox to maintain system stability.

The platform monitors various cloud resources, including encryption keys and configuration scripts, while mapping interactions between them. It also features tools for tracking AI models by generating AI-BOMs to identify potential risks. Furthermore, the system uses AI to scan for vulnerabilities and simulate cyberattacks to test infrastructure defenses.

Upwind employs specific AI agents to manage security findings. The agent named Red filters out low-risk vulnerabilities, while the Blue agent identifies active hacking attempts. Although the company has not disclosed specific plans for the new capital, recent activity includes the rollout of integrations with approximately six third-party cloud services.
