A GitHub project titled DLSS-NR-on-AMD enables Nvidia DLSS 5 Neural Rendering on AMD Radeon RX 7000 and RX 9000 series graphics cards. The implementation uses a full rewrite of the neural network runtime specifically for AMD GPU architectures and currently supports DirectX 12 titles that utilize FSR, including Cyberpunk 2077 and GTA V Enhanced.
Development progress has been rapid, with the project moving from version 0.3.3 to 0.4.0 in 24 hours. The developer reports a cumulative performance increase of approximately 74% across these updates. To simplify deployment, the team introduced the AMDNR launcher, which automates the installation process and replaces the need for manual DLL file management.
Testing conducted by the YouTube channel Ancient Gameplays on a Radeon RX 9070 XT shows that the latest build achieves around 50 FPS in Cyberpunk 2077 at 3440 x 1440 resolution. This is a notable gain from the 30 FPS recorded in earlier iterations, though it remains lower than the performance levels seen when the technology is disabled.
The project is currently in the alpha stage, and the developer continues to work on further updates to improve compatibility and frame rates. While the technology is not yet a practical alternative to native implementations, the team plans to release additional major updates to optimize performance on Radeon hardware.
