Universal Music Group announced a multi-year partnership with ElevenLabs to build an AI-powered platform. The service will enable users to create remixes, mashups, and new versions of tracks using the label's licensed music catalog. Participation in the platform remains optional for artists.
The companies plan to develop additional products and fan experiences over the coming years. This initiative is separate from the existing ElevenLabs Music API and ElevenMusic generator. The project aims to provide new creative tools while ensuring fair compensation for songwriters and performers.
Universal Music Group continues to expand its AI portfolio through various collaborations. The label is currently working on an AI music platform with Udio and maintains licensing agreements with Spotify, Nvidia, and Klay. These moves follow recent industry developments, including Suno's release of a model trained on licensed content from Warner Music Group and BMG.
