Unitree, a Chinese robotics company, has significantly impacted the market for quadruped robots by prioritizing affordability. The manufacturer's Go2 Pro model, purchased for $4,017, demonstrates the company's strategy of using standardized motors and lower gear ratios to reduce production costs compared to industry alternatives like Boston Dynamics' Spot, which starts at approximately $75,000.
The company's financial growth has been rapid. Following its debut on the Shanghai stock market on August 19, Unitree reached a valuation of $34 billion. Revenue from quadruped robots grew from RMB 230 million in 2024 to RMB 697 million in 2025. Simultaneously, the firm has expanded into the humanoid market, launching the H1 in 2023 and the G1 in 2024, with consumer versions starting at $13,500.
Humanoid robots have become a primary revenue driver for Unitree, accounting for 51 percent of total revenue in 2025. Sales in this segment rose from RMB 107 million in 2024 to RMB 867 million in 2025. The company leverages its experience in actuator design and supply chain networks developed during its years of producing quadruped robots to maintain its competitive pricing strategy.
While Unitree's robots have democratized research access, they face practical limitations. Users note issues with battery life and thermal management during outdoor use. Additionally, the company benefits from Chinese government support, including tax credits and institutional purchases, which has helped scale manufacturing operations and drive down unit costs for the mass market.
