UltraTech Cement, the largest cement producer outside China, plans to expand its logistics fleet by adding over 600 electric heavy-duty trucks by December 2026. This initiative aims to transport more than five million metric tonnes of clinker and essential materials annually across several Indian states, including Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Odisha.

The transition is expected to reduce carbon emissions by over 117 000 tonnes per year, which the company equates to saving 39 million litres of diesel. UltraTech has already secured service contracts with manufacturers such as Tata Motors, Ashok Leyland, IPLTech, Energy In Motion, and Sany to facilitate this large-scale fleet electrification.

The company currently manages a green logistics network comprising over 850 vehicles, including both CNG and electric trucks. In June, UltraTech added 45 electric trucks to its operations, including a 250 km route between Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh managed by Energy In Motion. This strategy covers the entire supply chain from mining to inter-plant transport.
