Nine UK life sciences firms visited Shanghai on October 12 as part of a three-day trade mission organized by London and Partners and Grow London Global. The delegation included companies specializing in biotechnology, medical devices, and digital health, all seeking local partners for research, clinical trials, and investment.

Axiom Therapeutics, a drug developer already collaborating with Shanghai-based contract research organizations, aims to expand its local R&D footprint. CEO Dr. Ryan Geiser noted that the firm has held discussions regarding potential clinical trials with Fudan University to strengthen its long-term presence in the region.

Curenetics, an AI precision-medicine company, is actively searching for Chinese hospital and pharmaceutical partners. CEO Dr. Sola Adeleke stated that the firm is specifically targeting venture investment from Chinese entities to fund local hiring and operational expansion within the country.

Chinese participants, including Shanghai Aijin Artificial Intelligence, are evaluating these collaborations to access global technologies and support their own international growth. Shuyuan Ling, CEO of Aijin, expects international business to represent at least 70% of the company's operations within three to five years.
