A recent Deloitte survey of 66 chief financial officers, conducted between September 17 and October 1, reveals that 52% of large UK companies plan to use artificial intelligence to replace staff within the next year. The group of respondents included 12 executives from FTSE 100 companies and 25 from FTSE 250 firms.

Despite the push for automation, only one-third of the surveyed CFOs believe that AI will contribute to higher profit margins over the coming year. Furthermore, 67% of participants noted that they have currently achieved only one-quarter of the operational changes they expect AI to eventually deliver.

A separate report from the training platform Multiverse, founded by Euan Blair, highlights a disconnect between AI investment and workforce development. The study suggests that many companies are increasing spending on AI tools without providing adequate training for employees, leading to inefficient resource allocation.
