The latest Ubuntu 26.10 release demonstrates performance improvements on the Star Labs StarFighter Ultra laptop compared to the previous Ubuntu 26.04 LTS version. Testing was conducted using the Intel Core Ultra 9 285H processor, which features integrated Arc 140T graphics.

The hardware configuration of the tested unit includes 64GB of LPDDR5-7467 memory and a 1TB Samsung 990 EVO Plus NVMe SSD. The device is equipped with a 3840 x 2400 resolution display and utilizes Coreboot firmware.

The comparison focused on software stack differences between the two operating system versions. Ubuntu 26.04 LTS runs on the Linux 7.0 kernel, Mesa 26.0, and GNOME 50, while Ubuntu 26.10 integrates the Linux 7.3 kernel, Mesa 26.2, and GNOME 51.

No modifications were made to the hardware or system settings during the benchmarking process. The evaluation was limited to the impact of the updated software packages provided with the new Ubuntu release.
