The United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) have agreed on more than 80% of the licensing agreement for the local production of the SJ-100 aircraft in India.
Vadim Badekha, head of UAC, announced this at the INNOPROM. India exhibition in New Delhi, held from September 9 to 11, 2026. The licensing agreement is expected to be signed shortly, and UAC aims to finalize a contract with the first Indian operator at the AeroIndia 2027 exhibition.
The SJ-100 is a short-haul narrow-body aircraft with a capacity of up to 103 passengers. It features Russian PD-8 engines, landing gear, avionics, and an auxiliary power unit.
Alongside the SJ-100, UAC presented the Il-114-300 regional turboprop and the MS-21 medium-haul aircraft in India. Agreements regarding the Il-114-300 are expected to be signed during the INNOPROM. India event.
