The Tunica-Biloxi Tribe of Louisiana is reportedly entering a partnership with the event contracts exchange Kalshi. The collaboration aims to launch a mobile application that will enable users to place bets on real-world events through a platform owned and operated by the tribe.

This development occurs as Kalshi faces widespread legal opposition from tribal nations. Several tribes argue that the company's sports-related event contracts violate the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act of 1988, which grants tribes exclusive gaming rights on their lands.

On September 16, 2026, the Ninth Circuit issued a temporary injunction that prevents Kalshi from offering its event contracts on the territories of two California tribes. Courts are increasingly examining whether these financial products function as sports betting.

The Tunica-Biloxi Tribe, which received federal recognition in 1981, currently manages the Paragon Casino Resort in Louisiana. The tribe has recently sought to diversify its economic interests, including a 2025 memorandum of understanding with Louisiana State University Alexandria.
