President Donald Trump is scheduled to announce details of South Korea’s investment plan in the United States on September 18. This initiative is part of a $350 billion package agreed upon in July 2025 as part of a bilateral trade deal.

The total investment is divided into $200 billion for strategic sectors, limited to $20 billion annually, and $150 billion for shipbuilding. Initial projects worth over $100 billion are currently being finalized.

The upcoming announcement covers energy projects, including eight nuclear reactors, a gas initiative in Texas, an Alaskan LNG project, and the reprocessing of 4,000 tons of nuclear material. Carbon capture technology is also included.

South Korea established the Korea-US Strategic Investment Corporation in March 2026 to manage these capital flows. The legislation passed with a 226-8 vote in the National Assembly.

Over $100 billion of the initial funding may support US artificial intelligence infrastructure. This positions South Korean firms, such as Samsung and SK Hynix, as key partners in the American AI sector.
