President Donald Trump signed an executive order mandating that all official US government documents, websites, and press releases replace the term artificial intelligence with Super Intelligence. The administration expects officials to avoid using the phrases artificial intelligence or AI in relevant settings moving forward.
The directive does not require federal agencies to update existing regulations or past documentation. Trump first announced the rebranding initiative during a speech at the United Nations General Assembly last week, citing concerns regarding the rapid development and safety risks associated with current AI technologies.
The executive order followed a White House luncheon attended by tech executives, including Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang and Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk. Trump described the meeting as productive and emphasized a preference for self-regulation, noting that existing oversight from the Department of Justice and the FBI remains in place.
Regarding infrastructure, Trump stated that technology firms will provide resources and economic support to local communities to facilitate the construction of large-scale data centers. He expressed confidence that these facilities will gain popularity as companies work to address local concerns during the development process.
