During an industry summit on Monday, US President Donald Trump called Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang. In a public conversation, Trump dismissed concerns regarding artificial intelligence safety, labeling the narrative that AI poses a threat as a hoax. He emphasized that robots will not take over or rule the world.
Trump also highlighted the importance of data centers, describing them as the oil of the next 20 to 25 years. He noted that these facilities contribute to the wealth of individuals and states, praising their role in the future economy.
Meanwhile, David Sacks, co-chair of the President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology, stated that leading AI firms like OpenAI and Anthropic should focus on building safe products at their own pace without government intervention.
Sacks previously criticized OpenAI and Anthropic on social media, warning them against claiming that their development slowdowns are motivated solely by altruism. He added that companies face significant liability risks if their models facilitate destructive cyberattacks, noting that the market already penalizes unpredictable or unauthorized AI models.
