President Donald Trump has announced the formation of the Super Intelligence Force, a new federal task force dedicated to maintaining U.S. leadership in artificial intelligence. The group will coordinate government interactions with AI companies, infrastructure providers, and public interest groups, reporting directly to the President and White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles.
Jay Clayton, the former SEC chair, has been appointed to lead this initiative. Clayton is known for his tenure at the SEC, during which he initiated 57 enforcement actions against crypto firms and blockchain projects. His final major act at the commission in December 2020 was a lawsuit against Ripple, seeking $1.3 billion for the alleged sale of unregistered securities.
Following his departure from the SEC, Clayton served as a crypto adviser for One River Asset Management and joined the advisory board of Fireblocks. In 2025, he was appointed as the interim U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York, where his office oversaw the prosecution of Tornado Cash developer Roman Storm.
The new task force includes Federal Trade Commission Chairman Andrew Ferguson, Under Secretary of War for Research and Engineering Emil Michael, and Office of Personnel Management Director Scott Kupor. The announcement follows a recent meeting between Trump and leaders of major technology companies regarding the White House Accord on Super Intelligence.
