Tripadvisor is undergoing a significant leadership transition as CEO Matt Goldberg and CFO Mike Noonan prepare to step down. Goldberg will remain in his position until Feb. 16, 2027, to facilitate the handover, while Noonan will depart on Dec. 31. Kristen Dalton, the current chief strategy and operations officer, will assume the role of interim CFO starting Jan. 1, 2027.
The company reported a challenging third quarter, with revenue falling 11% year over year to $434.6 million and a net loss of $316.9 million. In response, Tripadvisor initiated a restructuring plan on Nov. 4, which involves workforce reductions in its Hotels and Other segment and a shift in investment focus toward its Experiences initiatives.
Additionally, Tripadvisor finalized the sale of TheFork to American Express on Nov. 1. This divestiture follows pressure from activist investors, including Starboard Value, which previously secured four seats on the board in March to influence the company's strategic direction and value creation efforts.
