Elon Musk announced that the next-generation Tesla Roadster will enter production in 2028 at the Giga Texas facility. The vehicle will be available in three versions: Performance, Thrust, and a limited Rocket edition.

The prototype features a propulsion system utilizing 10 gas thrusters from SpaceX, powered by compressed air stored in a 600-liter tank. This setup allows the car to accelerate from 0 to 97 km/h in 0.81 seconds.

Musk stated that the top speed of the Roadster could exceed 0.5 Mach, or approximately 612 km/h. To achieve this, the vehicle will incorporate rear-mounted thrusters, orientation control nozzles, and active aerodynamics.

The propulsion system operates on compressed atmospheric air, which the car refills autonomously while in motion, eliminating the need for traditional chemical rocket fuel.
