Tesla has unveiled details for the new Roadster, which will be available in four trim levels: Roadster, Performance, Thrust, and Rocket. All versions are exclusively rear-wheel drive. The company targets a base weight of under 1,700 kg and a range of approximately 300 to 320 miles.

Performance specifications vary significantly by trim. The most powerful models are expected to exceed 1,341 horsepower and 1,033 lb-ft of torque. Acceleration claims for 0-60 mph range from under 1.6 seconds for the Performance trim to under 0.55 seconds for the Rocket version.

The Thrust and Rocket trims feature cold-gas thrusters. The Thrust model uses a 200-liter nitrogen tank, while the Rocket adds a 400-liter tank in the passenger area. Refilling these systems currently takes six to seven hours, though Tesla aims to reduce this time to 30 minutes.

The vehicle incorporates advanced technologies including bespoke 4680 battery cells, steer-by-wire, brake-by-wire, and active aerodynamic surfaces. The car also utilizes a suction system for downforce. Tesla has indicated a target top speed of over 230 mph, with some projections reaching up to 330 mph.
