Tesla reported 438,000 driverless miles in Austin for the week ending October 18, surpassing Waymo’s Q2 weekly average of 406,000 miles in the same city. Tesla’s weekly mileage in Austin increased by 30% compared to the previous week, following the launch of public Cybercab rides on September 3.
Data from Robotaxi Tracker indicates that Tesla has 463 Cybercabs registered in Texas, with 337 added in the last 30 days. Austin currently accounts for 79% of Tesla’s total weekly driverless miles. In contrast, Waymo’s smallest market, Atlanta, averaged 250,000 miles per week during the second quarter of 2026.
On a national level, Waymo continues to lead, averaging 3.90 million rider-only miles per week in Q2 2026, which is approximately seven times more than Tesla’s weekly output. Cumulatively, Waymo has recorded 271.3 million driverless miles since 2020, while Tesla has logged 3.11 million miles since January 22, 2026.
Tesla’s current robotaxi operations remain limited, as vehicles do not use highways and avoid certain railroad crossings. Waymo has been operating on freeways in Phoenix, San Francisco, and Los Angeles since November 2025. Tesla’s head of AI software, Ashok Elluswamy, noted that service expansion is currently constrained by software capabilities.
