Tencent has launched a closed beta for its new AI-native input tool, Chatterfly, which is also known as Yuanbao Input Method. The service is currently available for macOS and Windows desktop users, requiring an invitation code for access. Mobile versions for iOS and Android are listed as upcoming.

Powered by Tencent's Hunyuan multimodal large language model, the tool moves beyond basic speech-to-text. It functions as an AI expression assistant designed to convert spoken language into polished written text. The software is optimized to handle challenging audio environments, including noisy settings, weak network connections, and low-volume speech.

Chatterfly includes six specialized skill sets for tasks such as meeting minutes, work reports, project tracking, marketing copy, email editing, and Vibe-Coding prompt optimization. Users can integrate the tool within applications like WeChat and QQ. The system also learns individual user habits and supports custom vocabulary.

Security is a key feature, as voice recordings and related notes are stored locally on the device rather than in the cloud. Tencent has not yet released an official announcement regarding the product's full feature set, development roadmap, or the specific release dates for mobile platforms.
