French manufacturer TEMO is introducing its OUTPOD electric propulsion system to the North American market. The product will be showcased at the United States Sailboat Show in Annapolis, Maryland, from October 15 to 18.
The OUTPOD design features an external, bolt-on transom mount that avoids the need for hull drilling. The system allows users to slide the motor off for maintenance or lift it out of the water using a halyard to reduce drag while sailing.
The company offers two models: the OUTPOD 1000, which provides 1,300 watts and 30 kg of thrust, and the OUTPOD 3000, which delivers 3,100 watts and 67 kg of thrust. Both versions weigh 11.8 kg.
The propulsion system utilizes removable 2.3 kWh batteries that support shore power charging. Alternatively, users can connect the motor to existing 48V lithium battery banks. The setup also supports solar charging and hydrogeneration.
The OUTPOD 1000 is priced at $2,600, while the OUTPOD 3000 has an MSRP of $5,400. This product is part of the broader 48V SEASIDE ecosystem, which includes motors ranging from 500W to 6kW.
