The inaugural Tech Race Summit, organized by SOFTSWISS, gathered over 1,500 participants from fintech, e-commerce, and iGaming sectors to address challenges in scaling artificial intelligence. Industry experts highlighted that while 88 percent of organizations utilize AI, only 8 percent have achieved advanced production-level maturity.
Speakers identified a significant gap in organizational strategy, noting that many companies struggle to move beyond isolated pilot projects. According to a Gartner report cited at the event, 63 percent of organizations lack the necessary data management practices to effectively support AI implementation.
Participants discussed the phenomenon of zombie projects, where AI experiments consume resources without clear business cases or defined success metrics. Experts suggested that placing AI programs under executive leadership and linking them to revenue targets can help prevent inefficient resource allocation.
Cost management remains a primary concern, with companies exploring strategies like routing requests to simpler, more affordable models rather than relying solely on expensive options. Cloudflare shared its approach of building internal tools, such as Cloudflare OS, to improve accessibility and streamline workflows for non-technical staff.
The conference emphasized that human oversight remains essential for verifying AI output quality and ensuring accountability. While companies like Bioptic use human experts to test and refine agent performance, the industry consensus holds that businesses must retain ultimate responsibility for AI-driven results.
