The Targus DOCK402TT is a new USB-C mobile docking station that integrates a GaN charger into a single unit. Designed for travel and hybrid work, it allows users to connect a laptop to external displays, wired networks, and peripherals via a single cable while providing power.
The device features an HDMI port supporting up to 8K resolution at 30Hz, two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports, and one USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C port, all offering data transfer speeds of up to 10Gbps. It also includes a Gigabit Ethernet port and utilizes USB-C DisplayPort Alt Mode for video output without requiring dedicated drivers.
The built-in GaN charger supports USB PD 3.1 EPR, delivering up to 140W to compatible devices. When all three downstream USB ports are in use, the power delivered to the host laptop is dynamically adjusted to a maximum of 100W. The dock can also operate via host power if no wall outlet is available, though it will not charge the laptop in this mode.
Compatible with Windows, macOS, iPadOS, Android, Chrome OS, and Linux, the unit measures 7.95 by 7.95 by 5.08 centimeters and weighs 0.37 kilograms. It is constructed using up to 75 percent post-consumer recycled aluminum and plastic and comes with a three-year limited warranty.
The DOCK402TT is currently available through the Targus website and retail partners at a price of $139.99. Achieving 8K output or 140W charging requires that the host port, connected devices, and cables meet the necessary technical specifications.
