The TACT framework is a C-based tool designed for declarative management of text-based protocols in embedded systems. It allows developers to handle complex sequences of commands, such as AT commands for GSM or GNSS modules, without writing custom state machines or parsers for every interaction.

The framework operates independently of specific platforms or operating systems and does not use blocking operations. It requires a periodic call to the core every 10 milliseconds. The static overhead is approximately 1 KB, making it suitable for memory-constrained microcontrollers.

TACT handles command transmission, response parsing, and error management automatically. Developers can define command groups, expected responses, retry counts, and error-handling steps. It also supports URC (Unsolicited Result Code) messages through dedicated callbacks.

The framework includes a 'chain' feature for building complex execution flows. This allows for declarative logic involving branching, loops, and error recovery sequences. Users can wrap command groups into functions and organize them into chains to manage entire device lifecycles.
