San Francisco-based startup Tab has officially exited stealth mode. The company announced a pre-seed valuation of $300 million, a figure significantly higher than the typical $15-25 million range for similar early-stage ventures.
The company is developing an AI agent designed to function directly within iMessage and WhatsApp. Users can delegate tasks by sending messages, allowing the assistant to handle chores such as booking flights, drafting emails, making phone calls, and processing payments.
To ensure security, the agent requires user approval for all financial transactions. The system operates in its own computing environment and retains context across different conversations, including preferences shared in previous interactions.
The platform supports various input formats, including text, photos, PDFs, and videos. It is also capable of conducting voice calls, which allows the agent to manage tasks like waiting on hold with airlines on behalf of the user.
Tab was co-founded by Brennan Erbz, Stafford Schlitt, and Ammar Amdani. The pre-seed funding round attracted participation from investors including SV Angel, Valar Ventures, and American Spirit. The company has not yet disclosed its revenue or user base.
