Sword Health, an AI-focused digital health company, has announced the acquisition of meditation app Headspace. The all-cash deal is valued between $200 million and $300 million, a significant drop from the app's previous valuation of roughly $3 billion following its 2021 merger with Ginger.
The transaction is expected to close by early Q4 2026. Headspace brings a user base of over 100 million people across 200 countries, along with distribution networks covering more than 20,000 businesses and 15,000 healthcare providers. The app is supported by 84 peer-reviewed studies.
This acquisition follows Sword Health's purchase of Kaia Health earlier this year for $285 million. In 2026 alone, the company has committed at least $500 million to acquisitions. Sword Health, founded in 2015 by CEO Virgilio Bento, reached a valuation of approximately $4 billion in 2025.
By integrating Headspace and Kaia Health into its AI Care platform, Sword Health aims to provide a comprehensive digital health system. The company intends to consolidate services for employers and insurers who currently manage multiple vendor relationships for physical and mental health needs.
