Supabase Inc., a developer of commercial PostgreSQL solutions, has secured $150 million in a new funding round. The investment was led by the Singaporean sovereign wealth fund GIC, with participation from CapitalG, IronArc, and SquarePeg.

Concurrent with the funding announcement, Supabase confirmed the acquisition of database startup Turso for an undisclosed amount. Turso specializes in SQLite-based database technology optimized for AI agents, known for its small hardware footprint and fast deployment capabilities.

Supabase plans to utilize the fresh capital to provide employee liquidity and accelerate the development of new features for AI agents. The company also introduced a new cloud service called Supabase Compute, designed to host sandboxes for long-running AI processes.

The integration of Turso technology is expected to enhance Supabase Compute by allowing agents to deploy lightweight database instances for tasks that do not require a full-scale relational database. Turso provides additional features over standard SQLite, including built-in support for embeddings and advanced encryption.
