Sunbeam Wireless has unveiled two new flip phone models, the F1 Pro Poplar and Walnut. Both devices are scheduled for release in November with a retail price of $389. The manufacturer focuses on a minimalist software experience, intentionally omitting web browsers, social media platforms, and app stores.
The phones are equipped with a 2.8-inch touchscreen featuring a 480x640 resolution. Under the hood, they run on a MediaTek MT6739 processor, supported by 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, which can be expanded via a microSD card slot.
The devices run on the BasicOS operating system. Key features include the Dewdrop messaging app for communication with Signal users, email support, Waze navigation, and Wi-Fi hotspot functionality. Future updates are expected to add ride-hailing service support.
Hardware specifications include a 5-megapixel camera and a 2200mAh removable battery. The phones feature USB-C and 3.5mm audio ports. Additional tools include a music player, voice recorder, and visual voicemail. Video recording is supported, though it is limited to 2-minute clips.
