The Sui Foundation has committed $30 million to support the migration of the DATA Network to the Sui blockchain. As part of this transition, the DATA Network will shut down its independent Layer 1 chain and begin operating as a native protocol on Sui.

The migration, announced on October 8, 2026, involves integrating the Walrus Protocol for decentralized storage and data coordination. The project, formerly known as Story Protocol, is pivoting its focus toward infrastructure for verifiable AI training data, including provenance and auditing services.

The network currently tracks over 250 million on-chain data registrations. Its flagship application, Kled, has recorded more than 1.5 billion user-contributed data records. The project originally launched in February 2025 as an EVM-compatible chain before rebranding in June 2026.

The transition requires developers to adapt their applications, such as Kled and Numo, from the previous EVM-compatible environment to the Sui programming model. Token holders previously underwent a 1:1 token swap from IP to DATA during the June 2026 rebranding.
