The International Space Games began on October 27 at the Skolkovo testing site. Teams from Russia, Pakistan, Mexico, and Uzbekistan are the first to participate in the simulated Mars mission, which involves a 48-hour isolation period.
Participants are stationed at the Volga and Angara facilities. The stations feature greenhouses for hydroponic plant cultivation and laboratories for studying microorganisms. The teams must solve engineering and technological challenges while managing food production for an autonomous settlement.
The mission control center at Bauman Moscow State Technical University monitors environmental data, including temperature, humidity, and pressure, via telemetry systems. Communication between the stations is delayed to simulate the distance between Earth and Mars.
The event runs until November 1, with a second group of teams from China, India, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan scheduled to follow. Organizers aim to assess psychological resilience in isolation and develop sustainable solutions for future planetary settlements.
