Stellantis is reportedly expanding its entry-level electric vehicle lineup with a new model under the Opel brand, potentially reviving the Agila nameplate. According to reports from Quattroruote, this city car would share a technical platform with the upcoming electric versions of the Citroen 2CV and Fiat Koala.
The new vehicle family is scheduled for a 2028 launch, with the Opel variant expected to arrive a few months after its sister models. Production for these vehicles is slated for the Pomigliano d’Arco plant near Naples, Italy, where the group currently manufactures the Fiat Panda.
The proposed Opel Agila is expected to measure approximately four metres in length, aligning with the European Commission’s planned M1E vehicle class for small electric cars under 4.20 metres. This classification offers manufacturers incentives through CO2 fleet emission credits.
While Stellantis has not confirmed a final price, the target for the E-Cars family is around €15 000. The project, announced in May 2026, aims to provide affordable, locally produced electric mobility options for the European market by utilizing shared technology and partnerships.
