In September 2026, Steam generated $1.7 billion in revenue. Despite rising costs for PC hardware, consumer spending on the platform remains high, with projections suggesting annual revenue could exceed $20 billion for the first time.
New intellectual property releases accounted for 20.5% of revenue among the top 500 games, while established titles contributed 79.5%. Notable titles like Wardogs, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, and The Blood of Dawnwalker were primary revenue drivers during the month.
Free-to-play titles continue to play a significant role in the platform's ecosystem. Counter-Strike 2, Apex Legends, PUBG, and Dota 2 collectively generated nearly $168 million in September, representing approximately 10% of the total monthly revenue.
Steam is on track to surpass its 2025 release record of 21,268 games. As of October 1, 2026, the platform had already seen 20,220 new releases, with an additional 1,156 titles scheduled for launch throughout October.
Valve continues to expand its hardware footprint beyond desktop and laptop gaming. The company supports the Steam Deck handheld, has introduced the new Steam Machine for living-room gaming, and is actively working to extend Steam OS support to additional devices.
