Starlink has officially announced its readiness to launch high-speed satellite internet services in India. The company stated that it has spent more than five years coordinating with local regulators, industry representatives, and telecommunications operators to prepare for the market entry.

The company has already deployed a dedicated network infrastructure within the country, including specialized systems and gateways designed to handle Indian traffic securely. According to Starlink, all technical solutions have received the necessary government approvals.

The entry into India is significant as the country is the most populous in the world, with a population estimated by the UN at approximately 1.48 billion people. This makes India the largest potential market for the satellite provider to date.

Local conglomerate Reliance Industries has responded to the news by expressing support for market competition. However, the company emphasized the need for a level playing field and uniform regulations for all participants in the satellite communications sector.

Reliance Industries also noted that its own telecommunications division, Jio, is currently awaiting the necessary government permits to launch its own satellite services. The company maintains that all players should adhere to the same regulatory standards.
