Elon Musk announced that the Grok Bot, owned by SpaceXAI, will now route user queries to third-party models. The system will automatically select Claude Opus 5.5 for text tasks, Midjourney for image generation, and Suno for music creation without manual intervention from the user.
Billing is based on the specific model used for each request. The platform provides analytics to track which model processed a query, including instances where a switch occurred due to system failure. Corporate clients must agree to terms that allow Grok Bot to bypass their pre-approved list of data processors, as compliance is not guaranteed.
The announcement lacks data on deployment scale, specific terms with third-party providers, or performance benchmarks. SpaceXAI clarified that this integration is separate from the May agreement with Anthropic, which focused on leasing computing power from the Colossus 1 data center.
Grok Bot entered beta on August 11, 2026. Its features include persistent memory, context retention, and the ability to continue tasks in the background. Paid accounts operate under a weekly usage limit, with additional costs processed via the Cursor system if limits are exceeded.
