SpaceX is reportedly exploring a partnership with Boost Mobile to expand its Starlink mobile service. The discussions involve a potential acquisition of the carrier or gaining access to its existing network infrastructure. Elon Musk reportedly held talks with Charlie Ergen, chairman of EchoStar, which is the parent company of Boost Mobile, last month.

The integration of Starlink into the mobile market relies on combining satellite connectivity with terrestrial networks. Currently, Boost Mobile utilizes infrastructure from T-Mobile and AT&T, which may require SpaceX to secure additional agreements with these providers. Neither SpaceX nor Boost Mobile has provided an official comment on the reported negotiations.

SpaceX has been actively building its wireless capabilities recently. Last year, the company acquired wireless spectrum licenses from EchoStar. Furthermore, it has secured a portfolio of low-band spectrum licenses designed to improve signal penetration within buildings. Reports also indicate that SpaceX is negotiating access to at least 80 000 cell sites across the United States.
