Sony Semiconductor Solutions has unveiled the LYTIA 720, a new image sensor designed for smartphone primary cameras. The sensor features a 1/1.56-inch optical format and approximately 50 megapixels, utilizing a stacked structure. Mass production and shipments are scheduled to begin in early November.

The sensor incorporates UHCG circuit technology, which improves charge-to-voltage conversion efficiency. Compared to the previous LYTIA 700 model, this design reduces random noise in low-light conditions by half. The component also utilizes an AD conversion circuit to optimize power consumption.

The LYTIA 720 is the first in the series to support 4K 60fps HDR video recording with full-pixel autofocus in a 1/1.56-inch format with 1μm pixels. It also supports Hybrid Frame-HDR technology, which combines data from DCG-HDR and short-exposure captures to achieve a 100dB dynamic range.
