SoftBank has raised $11.1 billion through a bond issuance to fund its investment in OpenAI. The deal includes $10 billion in dollar-denominated notes and approximately €1 billion, equivalent to about $1.14 billion, in euro-denominated notes.

The proceeds will cover the final $10 billion tranche of a $30 billion commitment to OpenAI, which is expected to close on October 1. Following this payment, SoftBank's total investment in the AI company will reach approximately $64.6 billion, securing a 13% stake.

Following the announcement, SoftBank shares rose by more than 7%. This latest bond sale brings the company's total capital raised through debt instruments this year to approximately $37 billion, intended for AI investments and the repayment of bridge financing.

SoftBank maintains a significant stake in Arm Holdings, a chip designer. The company's current strategy focuses on holding assets in both chip architecture through Arm and AI model development through OpenAI, though analysts note a high concentration of AI-related positions.
