A study by Smart Ranking reveals that 74% of Russian users in cities with populations over 100,000 have utilized browser-integrated AI features within the last month. Among these users, 27% engage with AI tools daily, while 48% use them several times a week.

The most popular AI function is page translation, used by 62% of respondents, followed by summarization and context analysis of PDFs or videos at 44%. Other common tasks include text generation, editing assistance, and product selection.

Researchers evaluated 14 browsers, including both classic and AI-first models. Perplexity Comet and Microsoft Edge lead in functionality with 11 out of 16 points, while Yandex Browser and Google Chrome follow with 10 points each.

Accessibility remains a significant challenge in Russia, as many international AI features require VPNs or payment methods unavailable to local users. Yandex Browser currently ranks first in accessibility, as all its AI features function without restrictions.

The survey, conducted in July 2026 on the Anketolog platform, involved 1,000 participants. It highlights that while 78% of respondents use Yandex Browser, 44% identify it as their primary browser, with 58% of AI-feature users utilizing it specifically for these tasks.
